Wings of Friendship, is a children’s picture book that deals with friendship, diversity and love. The magnificent monarch butterfly is used as an educational tool to teach about the biological process of metamorphosis. How the caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly over a short period of time. The book also uses this process of change and development to show how differences and diversity can affect feelings. The character Ollie goes through many changes that are not the same as his friends but in the end he is accepted for his differences. The magnificent images give life to the butterfly characters. Their tolerance and behavior exhibit the importance of friendship and love in relationships. The beautiful illustrations help to carry this message from beginning to the end.
